The Nintendo Switch Online subscription service’s latest game is a certified N64 classic that is a treat for arcade racer fans.

It’s often a fantastic time taking a trip down memory lane, though sometimes our nostalgia goggles can deceive us over time with some beloved retro games not ageing all that well. Play the original GoldenEye 007 on the Nintendo 64 and you’ll know exactly what I mean.

Check out the Nintendo Switch Online - January 2025 trailer below!

The Nintendo Switch Online basic tier not only offers online gaming, discounts, cloud saves and trials, but you can even enjoy games of yesteryear from the NES, SNES and Game Boy eras via an ever-expanding library of delights. Oh and Ninty’s answer to Spotify, Nintendo Music is also included.

However, if you subscribe to the Expansion tier, not only do you get Game Boy Advance, N64 and SEGA Mega Drive titles but also expansions for Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Splatoon 3.

That all being said, the topic of today’s story is the inclusion of a beloved arcade racer from 2000 on the Nintendo 64, none other than Ridge Racer 64.

Ridge Racer 64 is all about over-the-top racing rather than simulation in titles such as Gran Turismo on PlayStation. This version of the arcade racer includes single-player and multiplayer modes with four-player split-screen support.

“RIDGE RACER 64 IN 2025, LET’S GOOOOOOO,” yelled excited Twitter user A1Alejandro1.

“Peak arcade racing back in the day,” TheLostGlitches recalled.

“I had no idea Ridge Racer was on N64, pretty cool to see that on NSO,” replied SuperDevon_V.

“Fantastic release! One of the best Nintendo Ridge Racers. I’m looking forward to diving back in,” rejoiced ShinKagato.

Ridge Racer 64 is available now on the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion library for the N64. Now, if Nintendo could hurry up and add classic Pokémon games, we’d be your best friends forever.
