Nintendo is the master of stealth-dropping new features, services, and games - not hardware though - and overnight they did it again.

Nintendo Music is available to download for smart devices from this morning and it finally gives Nintendo fans a way to listen to classic soundtracks legally and officially.

Nintendo recently ended support for Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp and released it as a paid for app including all past content

Of course, fans are overjoyed across social media and message boards, but there’s also plenty of funny jabs and copium.

“Tomorrow: "Get your new Nintendo toothpaste!," says NameisPeace over on Reddit.

Another Nintendo fan said, “We are getting a Nintendo electric chair before GTA 6.”

I love the sarcasm in this Twitter post, “Nintendo discovering the free money glitch of portable, accessible music 20 years after the invention of streaming music.”

This is something to celebrate. I’ve been bopping away to the Super Mario Odyssey soundtrack all morning while writing away and it’s lovely to know so many other gems are waiting in the app.

All you need to access this new platform some are deeming “Nintendo Spotify” is a Nintendo Switch Online subscription.

After downloading the app you’ll be required to sign into your Nintendo account and once this is done you can listen to your heart’s content.

Some fans have been quick to mention a possible downside to the app, “This is AWESOME until you realize that this is also an excuse for them to purge all unofficially posted Nintendo music from YouTube.”

It’s no wonder that fans are reaching with this new announcement saying things like, “We've had an announcement every day this week. Dripfeed direct? (Copium)”

And desperate Nintendo fans, myself included, are thinking the same thing, “Nintendo announcing everything under the sun except the thing we all want.”

Now that Nintendo has got this, plus the alarm clock, out of their system, do you think we’ll see the Switch 2 announcement before Christmas?
