Nintendo Switch 2 getting Xbox games, which sounds likes a massive win

More excitement for Switch 2 fans

It comes as no surprise that Xbox is eyeing the Nintendo Switch 2 release very closely, not only because there have been rumours swirling that Microsoft is hoping to enter the handheld market.

It seems that Xbox could see their way to releasing some of their standout games for the rival console, much in the way they’ve recently focused on bringing games to PlayStation.

Tom Warren, over on The Verge, is adding fuel to the fire by reporting that Xbox is working on ports to bring to the Switch 2.

In an article discussing Hellblade 2 coming to PlayStation, the industry veteran notes, “Microsoft is also working on some Xbox ports for Nintendo’s Switch 2, which I expect we’ll hear about soon.”

Just what these games are is anyone’s guess, but if we look to the aforementioned PlayStation deals, you could end up speeding through Forza Horizon in handheld, or stomping Locusts in Gears of War.

It would be an unprecedented move to see Xbox titles on a Nintendo console, however, the American publisher seems to be breaking down doors all over the place, furthering themselves as a brand, not just a hardware developer.

The potential is huge, not only for bringing in more players to classic Xbox franchises, but for bolstering communities with cross-play options.

The idea of being able to play Halo: The Master Chief Collection on a Nintendo Switch 2, with mouse controls, feels pretty epic, and it’s sure to turn a few heads.

It wouldn’t be a bad move for Microsoft who have always struggled to break into the Japanese market, but by offering just the games through a Nintendo console release would expand the business.

Everyone is quiet on this, right now, but with Summer Game Fest around the corner, we could see some big announcements on stage for both companies.
