Nintendo Switch 2 update is sure to leave many disappointed

Off to a bad start

The Nintendo Switch 2 is very exciting, no doubt, but I think we can all agree Nintendo’s way of showing it off has been…weird.

First, it took ages for the company to announce the thing, and the true reveal isn't really coming until a Nintendo Direct scheduled for April - and now, the situation is getting even weirder.

If you somehow missed the Nintendo Switch 2 announcement, perhaps you live under a rock I don’t know, here it is below.

Nintendo has promised that fans all around the world will get the chance to try out the Nintendo Switch 2 for themselves before its launch in the coming months.

If you wanted to take part in the Switch 2’s world preview tour, you needed to sign up to one of the demo sessions online, but Nintendo has been denying an overwhelming number of people’s registrations.

Even Geoff Keighley, Mr Game Awards himself, was denied a glimpse at the Nintendo Switch 2, but has since deleted the tweet so perhaps that situation has changed.

Of course, there are a lot of people who have been allowed entry into one of the preview events, but the chance to apply has now drawn to a close.

The ones who did get rejected have expressed outrage online, and while it’s disappointing to not get a hands-on with the new Nintendo console, it’s probably not the end of the world if it’s released this year anyway.

As for the Nintendo Switch 2 itself, it’s basically just a regular Nintendo Switch with a different shell and presumably more advanced hardware and features, though the specs haven’t been revealed yet.

We’ll get a closer look at the console in April when the Nintendo Direct takes place, which will hopefully be followed by a line-up of the games coming to the system at launch and in the months that follow.
