Nintendo Switch 2 price leak is causing division between fans

It's rumoured to be more costly than its predecessor

I think it’s fair to say that the recent reveal of the Nintendo Switch 2 left us all with more questions than answers.

It was a weirdly unceremonious reveal, but please don’t take that to mean I’m not excited about the console.

I am very much so, but with the reveal simply confirming the leaked Switch 2 model to be real, it lacked any sense of surprise.

That’s a critique of the nature of leaking rather than the actions of Nintendo.

There are still plenty of surprises in store, but they’ll be unveiled to us during 2 April’s Nintendo Direct.

It’s there that we’ll discover the Nintendo Switch 2’s specifications, features, launch software, and that all important price - although a rumoured price is doing the rounds online.

ICYMI: Take a look at the Nintendo Switch 2’s reveal below.

This tidbit of information comes from leaker Speshal_Nick who was informed by a source that the Nintendo Switch 2 will reportedly have two price points, $449 and $499.

It’s assumed that the higher price is for a bundle, presumably the Nintendo Switch 2 paired with the teased new Mario Kart entry.

Of course though, I do have to urge you to take this information with a hefty pinch of salt as “someone told me” could end up being utter hearsay.

Despite that, fans have taken to Reddit to discuss the potential pricing which, if true, would make the Nintendo Switch 2 roughly $150 more expensive than its predecessor at launch.

“A bit on a higher side, but I'd still buy day one,” wrote user AdventurousGold9875.

“Only way I'm paying $449 is if it has an OLED screen,” added rathat.

“Nintendo has hopefully learned its lesson that consumers of its products are very price sensitive with initial console hardware, but aren’t typically put off by buying new games from them at full price years later. They need to price this thing as close to breaking even as they can,” suggested UnkeptSpoon5.

As I said, keep that generous pinch of salt handy until the official pricing is confirmed by Nintendo.
