Nintendo Switch 2 quietly teased in surprise new trailer

An update from Nintendo

In a slightly odd move, Nintendo has put out a new advert for Super Smash Bros Ultimate on Nintendo Switch, a game that came out in 2018.

It’s odd to see an older game such as this get any kind of update or new advert unless Nintendo wants us to keep the title in mind as they ramp up towards the announcement of the Switch 2.

It has been quite some time since the last update for Super Smash Bros Ultimate

Whenever a new Nintendo console emerges we can pretty much guarantee seeing a new 3D Mario title, along with a new Mario Kart and Smash Bros game.

This was originally pointed out by Event Hubs who spotted the new advert.

Of course, Super Smash Bros Ultimate is one of the best games for the Nintendo Switch, so perhaps Nintendo just wants to pull in a few extra sales in the run-up to Christmas.

However, we wouldn’t be surprised if Nintendo is planning to promote the game as an upscaled or improved title for the Switch 2, what with it being the ‘ultimate’ experience.

Regardless of the intention, it’s always nice to be reminded this game exists and should be played.

We would say to take this with a pinch of salt. Nintendo likes to promote games to see a boost in sales, plus the Smash Bros creator, Masahiro Sakurai, has announced he’s working on something that likely isn’t Smash Bros related.

That doesn’t mean we won’t see an updated version akin to a remaster that could take advantage of higher framerates so desired in fighting games.

It’ll be interesting to keep an eye on this, just in case Nintendo decides to update the game with new fighters as part of the Switch 2 launch range.

We could easily see Nintendo introducing a set of characters or variants of older characters to coincide with launch titles for the anticipated console.
