The Nintendo Switch 2 has been out for a few days now, and fans have been busy with the console, mostly playing Mario Kart World and speeding around through the free roam mode.
It didn’t take players long to uncover a nostalgic secret that is hidden away in the game’s open-world, and it can be easily replicated the next time you boot up Mario Kart World.
There are a wealth of things to do in the new Nintendo racing title, including the traditional Grand Prix races, as well as the new knock-out mode that has fans thrilled.

Alongside this, the free roam mode lets you zoom around the vast world that holds all these tracks, and one of the iconic landmarks is Peach’s castle.
If you approach the castle, you’ll notice a stained-glass window of everyone’s favourite princess, and while it may not appear so, you can drive through this, emulating the leaping into paintings from Super Mario 64.
Doing so will enable mirror mode for the free roam world, completely transforming the map, however, you need to have unlocked the usual mirror mode before trying this trick.
And to do that requires some time investment, and a little skill.

If you’d rather figure this out for yourself, then feel free to leave this article here, but if you want to know how to unlock mirror mode on the Nintendo Switch 2 launch title, I can explain.
In order to open up this extra mode, you need to complete all seven Grand Prix in 150cc, as well as all eight knock-out tour rallies.
You don’t need to win these, simply complete them. Then, on top of this, you’ll have to collect 10 Peach medallions in free roam, as well as finish 40 P-Switch challenges, which can be found littered throughout the world.
Once you’ve polished this off, you can hop through the window and experience the world mirrored.
