Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders are already being cancelled, brace yourselves

Nintendo is allegedly cancelling some Switch 2 pre-orders, so if you've snagged one, you might want to double-check your inbox.

Depending on where you live, Nintendo has had pre-orders available for the Switch 2 for the past couple of weeks.

Despite the high price, analysts are predicting the console will sell well at launch.

With pre-orders only going live in the US as of this week, it appears that the process has become a little chaotic, with select retailers reportedly cancelling some orders.

Retailers like Target and Walmart are apparently cancelling some orders, even though they had previously gone through successfully.

Some users who were able to land a pre-order for the upcoming Nintendo console should have been able to rest easy knowing they could receive a unit in June, yet were later hit with cancellation emails.

"I kept refreshing the page on target to get the Switch 2, was on the checkout page for 20 minutes refreshing it over and over, hoping it would work," one user wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

"And after it claimed to finally work, I got an email saying it got cancelled immediately."

"Hey @Walmart, I ordered a Switch 2 and then my order was immediately canceled?!?" another wrote.

"Target canceled my Switch 2 pre-order but then sent me a confirmation email 15 minutes later just to rub it in (it still shows up as canceled in my account)," another post wrote.

More users are also reporting this to be the case.

With some stores allegedly only having around 100 units to sell, it appears the demand is clearly outweighing the supply at the moment.

Hopefully, Nintendo will see the stress this pre-order period is causing customers and increase the amount of units in due time. Remember, there should also be units available to order if you go into a store in-person.

The Nintendo Switch 2 will launch worldwide on 5th June 2025.
