Free games, even bad ones, are something that catches our attention. We can’t help it, we just love a bargain.

But when Nintendo announces two free games that are classic bangers, our excitement increases tenfold.

It may have taken Nintendo years to introduce classics to the Switch, and not all of the retro games we want are yet available, but the progress made thus far pleases us.

Both Shadow Man and Turok 2: Seeds of Evil are available for you to download and enjoy via the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack.

They don't make them like Turok 2: Seeds of Evil anymore

These titles are available elsewhere, like on Steam, but not everyone has a decent PC or Steam Deck to play them on.

Now, thanks to Nintendo, we have other options.

Say what you want about 90s video games, but they’re a special kind of experience that we treasure despite how badly they strain our eyes now.

Easily regarded as pinnacle releases within the action genre, Shadow Man and Turok 2: Seeds of Evil are “amazing” experiences that have withstood the tests of time.

The jank they have is part of their charm, as too is the atmosphere they exude.

Should you wish to return to these retro adventures, you’ll need to have a subscription to NSO + Expansion Pack, which will set you back £34.99 annually.

Most new games cost double that, so while these are older titles, you’re at least getting a lot of bang for your buck if you decide to become a member.

We assume that the subscription will carry over to the Switch 2, whenever it’s finally revealed.

There’s also a long list of other features we’d like to see the next Switch include, otherwise we might just riot about it.

Not that we’re going to learn about what’s to come anytime soon.

Ah well, at least we’ve got two free games to keep us company while we wait... and wait... and wait some more.
