Nintendo Switch Online players have just been treated to a new wave of free downloads, if you have an active subscription.

The Switch 2 is just over a week old now, and Nintendo is ramping up its support for the console by already providing players with some new additional content.

For years now, Nintendo Switch Online subscribers have been able to earn Platinum Points by doing certain tasks on their Switch console.

For example, this can include playing a certain game online, or trying one of the classic titles included with active subscriptions.

These Platinum Points can be used to unlock new items on the Missions & Rewards section of the Nintendo Switch Online app.

Such items include avatar icons, borders and backgrounds to use on your profile, as well as a few other special rewards.

In the latest wave of new icons added to Missions & Rewards, Nintendo has released a new wave based on Mario Kart World.

The icons feature characters like Luigi, Pauline, and even Penguin. I think I might have to grab the Penguin one for myself, actually.

The wave also includes backgrounds for certain tracks which appear in the game, and some borders which give the icons that fun Mario Kart flair.

You can grab the new Mario Kart World icons for between five and 10 Platinum Points on your Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 consoles now for a limited time.

Since Nintendo likes to swap these icons out from time to time, we recommend regularly checking back in case new icons are added.

Our own Ewan Moore reviewed Mario Kart World earlier this week, writing: “Mario Kart World might not be quite as easy to recommend as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe yet, but it’s still an absolutely fantastic kart racer that’s just as chaotic, imaginative, and vibrant as its predecessors.”
