We’re only a matter of weeks away from the Nintendo Switch 2 finally being in our hands, and fans are excited to get the next generation of Nintendo underway.

With the console reveal came a lot of scepticism surrounding the prices of games, as many, understandably, feel like another increase could hurt their hobby, but for some Nintendo Switch 2 games, we’re already seeing discounts.

Hogwarts Legacy will feature an upgrade option for Switch 2 owners

Perhaps the biggest of these is Hogwarts Legacy, which will be getting a dedicated Switch 2 upgrade, and anticipating this, Warner Bros has reduced the price of the standard game.

On the Nintendo eShop, you can currently buy the Harry Potter inspired game for 70% off its normal price, making it $17.99.

Once purchased, you’ll then be able to unlock the upgrade option to boost the game up to its Switch 2 version for an extra $10, making it a much cheaper way to play your favourite game on day one.

This means, if you were planning on buying the game, rather than paying $60 on launch, you’ll pay $28 instead.

We wouldn’t be surprised to see more games push discounts in the coming weeks, in the hopes that players opt for the upgrade to play the best handheld version.

Of course, Nintendo’s first-party titles will still fetch a premium price, as they always have, but hopefully other publishers will see options to bring players lower prices to take the sting out of the next generation.

It would be great if more publishers opt in to offer an upgraded version of their games, even if it’s for a small fee, as it would showcase the Switch 2 with a variety of titles.

The original release of Hogwarts Legacy on the Nintendo Switch compromised a lot to make the game playable, including some muddy textures and drops in framerate, hopefully this upgrade will be everything fans hope for.
