Nintendo Switch Gamers Treated To 2 Classic Free Games

Poor timing with Silksong out tomorrow though...

Nintendo users have a new free game to play, which will be different depending on which region your Nintendo Switch/Nintendo Switch 2 is part of.

While new additions aren’t as common as Xbox Game Pass or PlayStation Plus, nor as plentiful, Nintendo Switch Online is a decent little service that’s great for classic game fans like myself.

I do wish we could just buy the games digitally rather than rent them, and maybe that’s something Nintendo will reintroduce one day, but for the time being we’ll just have to manage.

Now a new game is being added to the service, Forsaken 64, a unique title that I’d seriously recommend you give a go.

Forsaken 64 is a first-person vehicle shooter where players navigate narrow tunnels and passageways blasting anything that looks even remotely unfriendly. The actual plot is about bounty hunters infiltrating an uninhabitable Earth searching for valuables.

This will be available for everyone regardless of whether they have a Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch 2, as only the GameCube games are exclusive to Nintendo’s latest console.

Interestingly there is another game joining the service, but one that replaces Forsaken 64 for those that can’t play it.

Forsaken 64 was never released in Japan, so for Japanese Nintendo Switch owners you’ll instead get the GameBoy Advance title Magical Vacation, an RPG created by the same minds behind Mother 3.

Why both titles couldn’t just be made available for everyone is beyond me, but that’s the world we live in so we’ll just accept it.

I’m sure many Nintendo Switch Online subscribers were patiently waiting for more GameCube games to come to the service, (Chibi-Robo was such an incredible addition to the line-up), but don’t sleep on Forsaken 64, it’s actually quite a good game and deserves more recognition.
