Nintendo quietly releases new Switch free download you've one month to grab

It's a more freebies

Additional freebies are available for your Nintendo Switch profile now, featuring some of your favourite Super Mario characters.

There are actually quite a few freebies for your Nintendo Switch profiles, spanning a variety of different Nintendo franchises like Mario and Kirby.

The next big release for your Nintendo Switch console is Mario & Luigi: Brothership, which looks ludicrously fun.

While we all love free stuff, I think it’s absolutely criminal that the only way to make your profile stand out from the crowd is through glorified profile pictures.

It’s a far cry from the background themes we had for the Nintendo 3DS, and since there’s been no replacement made for the Miiverse yet, the Mii you make for yourself very rarely gets seen by other users.

So for the time being, you’ll just have to settle for the icons, not the worst fate to have as some of them actually look quite nice.

The set we’re going to highlight today is the latest Super Mario wave, all of which are themed after his latest platformer Super Mario Bros Wonder, his karting side hustle Mario Kart, the globe-trotting adventure Super Mario Odyssey and Super Mario Bros 3D World.

Each icon is 10 points a pop, so it’s pretty easy to collect them all if you’re into that sort of thing, but personally I’d recommend just getting the characters you like instead.

Personally, I’ll be grabbing the Boo from Mario Wonder and any of the Luigi ones since they’re my favourite characters.

Also available are icons from the Kirby series, specifically Kirby Super Star from the Super Nintendo Entertainment System days, and the Animal Crossing ones which are almost always available.

You haven’t got long to claim them, as they’ll be rotated for a new selection on 7 October, so act fast if you want to add any to your collection.

As a reminder, Platinum Points are free to accrue and earn. Just head over to My Nintendo Rewards for more information.
