Nintendo Switch 2 users have a new line of free icons to claim, available right now with no strings attached.
The Nintendo Switch 2 is a great system and you can read exactly why in our review of the new home console, but it still has its problems.
They’re nothing to do with hardware in my opinion, it’s all about the software, specifically the home page which has no sauce whatsoever.

Gone are the days of unique background and customisable profiles, with the only options now being which icon you have displayed for online play.
Minor rant aside you can at least spice up your profile with a new range of icons ushered in with the Nintendo Switch 2, all of which are free as they use Platinum Points which are earned through gameplay.
The latest ones joining the fray are from Splatoon, great timing too because a new spin-off game was announced a few days ago which was a nice surprise.
The icons themselves aren’t from the new Splatoon game though they’re from Splatoon 3, and feature several characters and creatures from the game in the two main paint colours.

There’s really not much else to say about them apart from they’ll set you back 10 Platinum Points each, which is nothing really, you’ll earn them back rapidly.
If you’re not a Splatoon fan there are plenty more icons where that came from, including some from Mario Kart World if you’ve been playing that. The only downside to these snazzy profile pics are you can’t mix and match them…
Personally I think it’s a crying shame that the Nintendo Switch 2 didn’t come with more sauce when it comes to online expression. I mean we’re still restricted to light and dark themes for crying out loud.
Maybe in a future update…
