While The Super Mario Galaxy Movie has proved rather divisive, there’s no discrediting that Mario is easily one of the most beloved video game IPs out there.
It commands such a presence within the industry which is impressive considering Mario has always been exclusively a mascot of Nintendo’s consoles.
You won’t find Mario hanging out on PlayStation or Xbox, but you can now find the famed plumber on PC courtesy of a new fan port.
As reported by DSOGaming, fans have created a native PC port of Mario Party 4. Can I get a major wahoo?

You’re likely very familiar with the Mario Party formula that pits players against one another as they traverse a board and partake in minigames.
Mario Party 4 arrived on the Nintendo GameCube all the way back in 2022 - and while it did receive mixed reviews, it’s largely a game enjoyed by the wider public.
You can play as many of your favourite characters, including Mario, Luigi, Donkey Kong, Princess Peach, Princess Daisy, Yoshi, Wario, and Waluigi.
It goes without saying perhaps that this new PC port is free but it is a very early alpha version so you should expect bugs and glitches while the team behind this iron things out.
As for whether this unofficial port can survive the wrath of Nintendo, it’s quite possible.
Like with all decompilations, you’ll need a legitimate copy of the original Mario Party 4 - specifically, in this case, the US version of the game.
You should never pirate assets from online, with devs also noting that this isn’t compatible with the PAL or JP versions.

Mario fans can download the files for the port now although those files don’t feature any game assets; that’s where your copy of Mario Party 4 comes in.
Jumping through that extra hoop essentially ensures that Nintendo can’t nuke the project.

DSOGaming also notes that both the Rev 0 and Rev 1 ROM files are compatible, which is essentially a digital file that’ll retrieve the data you need for those new to the world of decompilation.
While Mario Party 4 isn’t perhaps the Mario game many would most like to see ported to PC, they do say you should never look a gift horse in the mouth - and this feels like a nice little treat amid the franchise’s 40th anniversary year.
