Legend Of Zelda Next-Gen Graphics Showcase Is Stupidly Gorgeous

Can the Nintendo Switch 2 do this?

The Legend Of Zelda franchise has given us some gorgeous games over the years, often being one of Nintendo’s best in terms of graphical and technological showcases.

I’ve got fond memories of the old GameCube tech-demo showcasing a fight between Link and Ganondorf only to be confused when the next game turned out to be The Legend Of Zelda: The Wind Waker… which turned out to be a top game regardless.

What I’m getting at is the Zelda series almost always looks magnificent and with the Nintendo Switch 2 the next mainline game will likely look even better.

While it probably won’t look exactly like it, a good example comes from Digital Dreams which uploaded a video of The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild running with 8K visuals on an RTX 5090.

The results speak for themselves, with footage of Link running across the fields of Hyrule with some sublime lighting illuminating his path forward.

Of course it is cheating a bit given how it’s being played on a PC but that doesn’t mean we should discount how beautiful it looks.

Let’s not kid ourselves though, the next Zelda game won’t look anything like this even if the Nintendo Switch 2 is a significant upgrade over the Nintendo Switch.

That said, it’ll still look fantastic and we’ve already seen what kind of performance we can expect from the upgrade packs for Breath Of The Wild and The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom.

As for when we can expect a new Zelda game, your guess is as good as mine. You could argue Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment counts but that’s a spin-off really, despite it tying into the events of Tears Of The Kingdom.

Personally I’m hoping the next Zelda game will go more traditional than the open-world format, some more like The Legend Of Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom. Whatever game it is at least we know it’ll look good.
