If you’re simply head over heels for The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, then you’re going to want to check out Nintendo’s latest offering of freebies.

Nintendo is currently in the midst of rolling out a series of Echoes of Wisdom themed profile icons and backgrounds, which you can use to personalise your Switch account.

Unfortunately, the first two waves have now ended but a new series of freebies has become available today, and will remain so until 16 October.

This time around, there are 10 characters you can claim as well as four backgrounds and four frames.

The character profile icons will set you back 10 Platinum Points while the backgrounds and frames cost 5 Platinum Points each.

“But Kate, you said they were free?” I hear you say.

Platinum Points is a free Nintendo currency, and it’s very simple to accrue a healthy amount in your coffers.

Take a look at The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom in action below.

For example, linking your Nintendo Network ID with your Nintendo Account can secure you 100 points - plenty to get you started with shopping for a few new icons.

This month’s character offerings include Princess Zelda, Tri, and Gannon, as well as enemy creatures the Darknut, Tornando, Albatrawl, Octorok, and Tektite.

As I said, wave three is available until 16 October at which point it’ll be replaced by a fourth and final wave which will go live from 16 to 23 October.

With that in mind, you don’t have long to make the most out of this third wave, so do grab any icons that appeal to you.

We awarded Echoes of Wisdom a score of nine in our review, writing, “It may have taken nearly four decades, but the first mainline Zelda game with the titular princess in the lead role was worth the wait. This is a magnificent adventure that whizzes and pops with imagination, and proudly stands shoulder to shoulder with the very best of Link’s tales. If this is the Switch’s final Zelda game - and surely it has to be - then we’re going out on a high. It rules.”

The game is available on Nintendo Switch now.
