The Game Boy Advance might not have enjoyed the technological wherewithal to create the same experiences as more modern consoles like the Switch, but Nintendo's early 2000s handheld still managed to give players some of the better games of any generation.
Amongst those was the Golden Sun series, RPG efforts that retained a consistent style and theme, with some impressive gameplay, securing its status as one of the most universally liked cult classics from that era of gaming.
One of the best remains Golden Sun: The Lost Age, the sequel to the original that chose to really nail RPG staples, rather than doing as much as possible to revolutionise the genre on handhelds. That was something that both fans and critics appreciated it for immensely, but it was The Lost Age's soundtrack that really set it apart.
Featuring a spectacular 94 original songs, all of them are a great window into that retro feeling backing that all RPGs of that era tended to favour. In even better news, the whole thing is now available to listen to as part of the Nintendo Music offering.

Composed by Motoi Sakuraba, the full playlist is more than three and a half hours in length, and it's lovely to put on in the background, whether you're working, studying or playing another RPG that has less compelling backing music.
Over on Reddit, fans were surprised to see it added to the service but delighted nonetheless. "Wow, wasn't expecting to get this before a lot of other GBA games. I'm not complaining, though, This soundtrack is a banger," one said.
"Sweet. My favorite Golden Sun! I hope we see a revival/remake someday," another added.
That news comes after Nintendo released Golden Sun and Golden Sun: The Lost Age for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack in 2024, bringing both games to the newer hardware and rejuvenating love for the series in the process.

Those two arrivals are now just a tiny part of the + Expansion Pack offering, which now features a ton of retro games from previous generations, including other GBA classics like The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past & Four Swords, Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3 and Fire Emblem.
