Animal Crossing Needs This Feature To Return, Gamers Agree

Maybe for the next game?

Animal Crossing gamers have agreed that the next game in the series needs to bring back this popular feature.

It’s been nearly six years since the release of Animal Crossing New Horizons, and fans are hopeful a new entry to the series will be revealed soon.

Of course, every Animal Crossing sequel released by Nintendo has featured a massive generational leap, so don’t expect more of the same thing when it does eventually return.

The next game could include brand new features we had never seen before, similar to how New Horizons introduced the terraforming feature, or it could bring back some features that had seemingly been cut from the most recent game.

One of these features that fans agree needs to be brought back is the feature where shops would upgrade multiple times over the course of your playthrough.

“Does anyone else miss when the shops upgraded multiple times?” asked one fan in the Animal Crossing Reddit page.

The post features an image showing the four evolutions of Tom Nook’s shop in Animal Crossing: City Folk; Nook’s Cranny, Nook ‘n’ Go, Nookway, and Nookington’s.

Animal Crossing New Horizons Features Some Building Upgrades, But Not A Lot

In New Horizons, some public buildings have one evolution. For example, Nook’s Cranny starts out as a small shed before being upgraded to a large building. Blathers’ Museum also begins in a tent before he upgrades it later on.

However, there isn’t a continual cycle of buildings being upgraded as you progress through your playthrough. Most buildings in New Horizons are fully upgraded after just a few days of playing, and that’s what players miss about the older games in the franchise.

“It was a great reward for progressing in the game to get a new shop with a larger selection. The only thing I didn't like was that one day that it closed down for renovations,” reads a comment underneath the post.

New Horizons pivoted too hard to the decoration aspect of the gameplay, when Animal Crossing is meant to be a village sim,” reads another comment. “Where some aspects of a town you have no control over the aesthetic. Just being a doll house game.”

“I'm surprised that Nook's Cranny didn't get another upgrade in New Horizons. The wood deck around the shop always seemed like it was a placeholder for what would eventually become a larger store,” a third comment reads.
