One of the best releases from 2023 is set to receive a next-gen update and Nintendo Switch 2 owners may want to keep an eye out on this exciting release.

First released back in 2023 and finding universal acclaim soon thereafter, Dave the Diver is an action-adventure/management title which will see you take on deep sea exploration in order to find ingredients for your sushi restaurant.

Developed and published by Mintrocket, Dave the Diver was launched on macOS and PC in June 2023 following an early access period beginning in October 22.

It was later released on the Nintendo Switch in October 2023 and finally on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 in April 2024.

However, at long last, it is about to make another hardware debut and this time, Dave the Diver will be launching on the Nintendo Switch 2 in a free upgrade.

Arriving alongside higher resolution and improved frame rates, players can expect a much smoother experience without any changes to the game’s base content.

The Dave the Diver Nintendo Switch 2 Edition Upgrade pack is now available on the US eShop for absolutely free if you already own the Nintendo Switch version.

If not, the game is just a mere $11.99 which is definitely worth it considering Dave the Diver’s 8.2 user score on Metacritic. As one of 2023’s most successful indie launches, Dave the Diver was loved by many, including GAMINGbible alumni Ewan Moore.

We are also big fans

“[Dave the Diver] continues to introduce new features and mysteries as you progress, bringing in useful tools like a fish farm, and a much deeper story that gradually reveals itself over the course of the adventure,” his review reads.

“There are also various side missions and activities to engage with, like photo missions and aquatic preservation jobs which, hilariously, usually amount to you going into the water and shooting a specific number of fish.”

News of the free upgrade soon took to social media and it is safe to say that fans appreciate the news.

“Time for me to finally pick it up on Switch!” One user shared.

“Might double dip… I have it on Steam but I use my Switch 2 more,” another delightfully added.

So if you are on the lookout for a hit indie which you may have missed out on when it was first released, do not miss out on the wonderful writing, engaging gameplay and exciting times which Dave the Diver can offer you.
