'Dark Souls 4' is absolutely blowing fans away

I’m sure many are still praying FromSoftware greenlights a fourth Dark Souls game, but Dark Souls: Archthrones will do for now.

While I’m a strong believer that FromSoftware’s soulslikes should remain standalone and not receive sequels, I know many will be praying for continuations of the Bloodborne, Elden Ring and of course Dark Souls games.

Unfortunately the chances of sequels are slim, as Dark Souls 2 was only made due to Bandai Namco pushing for it, followed by Dark Souls 3 in what can only be perceived as an apology for the prior game.

This leaves the possibility of Dark Souls 4 in limbo, but that hasn’t stopped fans creating their own sequels and spin-offs, the most popular of which being Dark Souls: Archthrones.

In a gameplay showcase even the creator acknowledges it’s probably “as close as you will get to Dark Souls 4,” as it tells a new story, with new areas to explore and bosses to conquer.

Fans absolutely adore it, and for good reason as it’s a quality-driven release that could easily be mistaken for an official FromSoftware expansion.

“If I hadn't known this was a mod in the making, I definitely would've assumed this was legitimately just Dark Souls 4. The detail, the passion, the art direction: it's all phenomenal. I can't wait to get my hands on this!”

“THANK YOU for showcasing this mod. It looks absolutely amazing and I love Dark Souls 3. I'mma try this out today!”

“Nice video. The mod looks absolutely amazing. Really enjoy the openness of that desert area. Also great enemy variety and world design. Fantastic work.”

Hopefully one day we see another Dark Souls game developed for new-gen consoles, but if we don’t, Dark Souls: Archthrones will definitely fill the gap between FromSoftware releases.
