There were a few unexpected, but deserving, winners at the Bafta Games Awards 2024. But one win no one was surprised by is Baldur’s Gate 3 taking Best Game.

Although Larian Studios’ Baldur’s Gate 3 didn’t run away with all the awards it was nominated for, the beloved RPG still dominated.

In total, BG3 walked away with five Baftas, which is a mighty fine haul considering the sheer range of talent that was on display.

It's the Best Game for a reason, so don't snooze on Baldur's Gate 3 and check out the trailer below

As a huge fan of the game, being able to watch BG3 take home the gold, so to speak, was incredible; the energy was palpable.

Upon accepting the award, Larian’s Swen Vincke said, “I still can't believe we're standing here. A lot of people put a lot of heart and soul into making Baldur's Gate 3, so this is amazing - thank you Bafta, thank you everybody.”

Of course, it wasn’t just the Best Game category the iconic RPG won. It also claimed awards in the Narrative, Performer in a Supporting Role – which went to Andrew Wincott’s Raphael – EE Players’ Choice, and Music categories.

What was a surprise, albeit a pleasant one, was seeing Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s Miles Morales actor, Nadji Jeter, take home the Bafta for best Performer in a Leading Role.

Many critics had assumed, given his popularity, that Neil Newbon, aka BG3’s Astarion, would easily win that one. Although shocking for some viewers, I’m sure die-hard Astarion fans will agree that Jeter was equally deserving of the award.

Although Larian has confirmed that the future of the franchise is bad (mostly for the fandom), it’s wonderful knowing that the six years Larian spent on this legendary game was worth every second.

The Bafta Games Awards 2024 was a night of celebration, glamour, but also reflection. Please join us once again in congratulating all those involved, and of course, Baldur’s Gate 3 for cleaning up at the awards in true style.
