It’s October which means I’m obligated to inform you that it’s spooky season. Halloween is fast approaching, so you may be on the lookout for a chilling new game. If you’re a horror fan who just so happens to feel that way, I may have just the thing - courtesy of Bloober Team.

That’s if you find time to step away from October’s major releases. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will swing onto our consoles on 20 October, which just so happens to be the same day that Super Mario Bros. Wonder lands on Nintendo Switch. Both titles garnered very positive previews, so it sounds as if we’re in for a double whammy treat. Elsewhere in the month, we’ve got Lords of the Fallen and Alan Wake 2. Alongside those major releases though, the folks over at Bloober Team have announced that a brand new free chapter will soon be released to all current Layers of Fear owners.

Take a look at our preview of Marvel's Spider-Man 2 below.

The rebooted Layers of Fear landed back in June on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. I say reboot, but Layers of Fear is actually a remake of both the original Layers of Fear and the sequel Layers of Fear 2 - and I’m not sure there’s a word for smashing two games together into one. Reimagined remake? You get the idea. If you enjoyed the game though and are craving some more spooky horror action, you are in luck.

Taking to Twitter, Layers of Fear devs announced, “Bloober Team is excited to announce that a new and free chapter will soon be released for all Layers Of Fear owners, to be made available on the 24 October, coinciding with the studio's birthday. Lights! Camera! Action!”

There are no further details at this present time, but 24 October is not too far away at all. Layers of Fear garnered a review score of 75 on Metacritic when it landed earlier this year, so it’s well worth checking out if you’re on the lookout for a fright.
