Alien: Isolation is free right now on the Epic Games Store. The PC storefront is continuing its free games tradition with one of the scariest and greatest modern horror experiences we can think of. Spend this holiday scaring the crap out of yourself, because why not?

The Epic Games Store gives away quite a few free games as the year goes by - new ones every week in fact. But it really likes to ramp it up around Christmas - it is the time of giving, after all. Right now the Fortnite developer is giving away Alien: Isolation which if you're a fan of the film Alien or horror of any kind, is a must-play title.

The game follows Ellen Ripley's daughter, Amanda, as she's on a journey to look for her mother, but is suddenly stuck on a ship with deadly robots and an angry Xenomorph hunting her down at every turn. The AI of the alien tracks you across the ship and as you're just a puny human compared to this monster, you need to spend your time working out how to travel from one area to the next while avoiding getting caught, and using your wits to outsmart its movements. It's an incredibly tense game, but oh so good so here's a link to the offer on the Epic Games Store.

The game is only available today (Tuesday 22nd December) until 4 pm GMT / 11 am EST so if you're tempted by the offer you need to go get the game now, now, now. At 4 pm the free game will change once again for another 24hrs - the next one has a gasmask logo so we're pondering what that could mean. Perhaps it's 60 Seconds, a Metro game or maybe even Wasteland 3. We'll just have to wait until later today to find out for sure.
