Payday 3 dev reveals dream Batman collab, where The Dark Knight stops you from robbing a bank

We interviewed a Payday 3 developer who revealed to us his dream Batman collaboration, where The Dark Knight stops you from robbing a bank.

Whatever it may be, we all have a dream we’d love to see fulfilled. For global brand director of Payday 3 Almir Listo, he'd love to see The Dark Knight enter the iconic franchise.

We recently went hands-on with Payday 3 and had the opportunity to chat with Listo over the development of the crime heist multiplayer shooter, touching on what he’d like to see from the series in the future. We asked Listo across all forms of media and entertainment, what would be his dream pop culture collaboration - and he answered with Die Hard’s charismatic loose cannon cop John McClane, and the Dark Knight himself Batman.

Check out Payday 3 in action below.

“I have two in mind. So one is Die Hard. Having John McClane be a Cloaker. You [the player] going, 'It's John McClane, shoot the glass!'” In case you didn't know, a Cloaker in the Payday series is a special overpowered enemy type that exists to throw a major spanner into the works of players attempting a heist.

The other collaboration is the aforementioned Batman and it would involve The Dark Knight attempting to prevent you from robbing a bank. Listo explained that we could have Batman “jumping through the ceiling” with the sounds of “windows crashing”, accompanied by his “ominous music”. Who knows, perhaps both collaborations are something we could see in Payday 3 one day.

In our preview of Payday 3, we said that it “raises the stakes in every way. Rushing out of a bank with a huge duffel bag full of Benjamins while intense music vibrates your eardrums never gets old (in the game, of course…).”

Elsewhere in the interview, Almir Listo also revealed that the developers spoke to real bank robbers to ensure that Payday 3 is an authentic experience as possible.

Developed by Overkill Software and Starbreeze Studios, Payday 3 will be released on 21 September 2023 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. What’s more, it will support cross-play for all available platforms. Oh, and it will also launch day one on Xbox Game Pass.
