Nintendo Switch Sports is finally here, a whopping 16 years after Wii Sports was released back in 2006. Just as we expected, the game is hugely fun. In our review, Dan said, “Nintendo Switch Sports brings forward a fun, first-rate, much-loved Wii series to the Switch console,” and “I was once again reminded of the fun of playing these motion-controlled Nintendo sports games that I once loved.”

If you’re anything like me, Nintendo Switch Sports will cast your mind back to those fond childhood memories of playing Wii Sports but as nostalgic as the franchise is for many, it also has a pretty chaotic history. Yes, I’m talking about the Wii remotes that got flung everywhere.

If you haven't picked Nintendo Switch Sports up yet, take a look at what you can expect in this trailer.

It’s easy to get carried away in a tense virtual tennis match and players soon began to injure both themselves and their surroundings, leading to Nintendo offering out extra-strong wrist straps and cushioned remote sleeves to limit further damage. Well, history is repeating itself. Are we really surprised?

Streamer 63man was live on stream playing Nintendo Switch Sports’ version of tennis on Saturday 30 April when in a moment of intense enthusiasm, he accidentally launched the Joy-Con controller towards his television, promptly smashing the display. This all took place just one day after the game’s release.

63man immediately fell into stunned shock and horror before he turned the camera round to show viewers his destroyed TV. Speaking about the incident, a clearly annoyed 63man told his chat, “If you don’t send [that clip] to Live Stream Fails I’m actually divorcing this chat.”

Nintendo Switch Sports currently has six available sports - bowling, tennis, chambara, volleyball, badminton, and soccer, with golf to be issued at a later date. Like its predecessor, Nintendo Switch Sports should be played using the Joy-Con’s safety straps so dear players, take note of the safety warning telling you to tighten them up. Otherwise, we could have the great TV smash-up outbreak of 2006 on our hands again.
