It’s been a long ol’ wait, but the new Fable instalment has finally been unveiled at tonight’s Xbox Showcase. What’s even better is that we have a brand new trailer to enjoy. What a treat.

It’s been well over two years since Playground Games announced that a Fable reboot was in development. That’s the issue with shiny CGI trailers. We get hyped over an idea, only to have to wait several years to actually see any of the game itself. Wait no more though, my friends. It’s been a rough couple of months when it comes to Fable rumours. We heard that the reboot was bringing in a new developer amidst ongoing “developmental problems” and then insiders teased that the reboot is still ‘miles away’. All I can say now is: ye of little faith. The new Fable, which is simply titled Fable, is looking just like we dreamed.

Take a look at Fable in action below.

How incredible does that look? We now know that Fable is on the way and will star comedian Richard Ayoade. I didn’t see that coming. It was also confirmed that the game will be a day one Game Pass exclusive. Back in September of last year, head of Microsoft Studios Matt Booty teased that he was so excited to show people what the developers over at Playground had brought to the Fable franchise - and now we can see just why he was so excited.

Ayoade is, of course, famous for appearing in The IT Crowd. In the trailer, it’s revealed that he portrays ‘vegetable enthusiast’ Dave. It looks as if we’ll have to confront Dave by climbing a giant beanstalk. Odd. Elsewhere in the trailer, we got our first look at some combat - and the trailer was packed with humour aplenty.

Unfortunately, we still don’t have a release date for Fable. That being said, It’s just great to know that development is progressing nicely. We can’t wait to find out more.
