MrBeast Slammed For 'Evil' New $500,000 Challenge

The creator is under fire once more

To nobody’s surprise, Youtuber MrBeast is back in the headlines after his latest crazy stunt saw one contestant risk their life for a cash prize.

James Stephen "Jimmy" Donaldson, otherwise known as MrBeast, is currently Youtube’s most subscribed creator and despite perhaps wanting to be best known for his philanthropic events, is more recognised for his elaborate challenges and stunts which will see viewers compete for cash prizes.

As a result, MrBeast’s challenges are often likened to those in the Netflix show Squid Game with many criticising his efforts for being "dystopian" and “inhumane”.

Unfortunately, the Youtuber’s latest video is doing nothing to quench those negative reactions after it saw one player trapped inside a room engulfed in flames in order to receive a $500,000 cash prize to help pay for their mother’s cancer treatment.

In the video titled “Would you risk burning alive for half a million dollars?”, the contestant, who is reportedly a trained stunt man, had to complete a series of challenges featuring fire in some capacity: jumping through fiery hoops, swimming underneath water set ablaze and finally, sitting in a room which was slowly engulfed in flames and smoke.

After completing the seven challenges, the participant would receive the cash prize and everybody would be happy, right?

Well, apparently not as MrBeast has once again been labelled a “movie villain” for his latest stunt.

Despite the creator claiming that multiple health and safety regulations have been met and even the contestant Eric revealing that he is “used to this kind of craziness”, viewers are not happy and have taken to social media to express their thoughts.

“MrBeast is under this post hollering about all the precautions he took/valuing safety but the simple fact of the matter is you recorded a man in a burning building for the purpose of entertainment,” one user explained over on Twitter.

“No matter how you slice or dice it, that’s an UNNECESSARY desensitized CHOICE.”

Following the criticism for his latest video, MrBeast took to social media to put out a disclaimer, stating that he takes “safety more serious than you could ever imagine”.

“This blew up, if you’re curious obviously we had ventilation for the smoke and a kill switch to cut off the fires,” he explained in a Twitter post.

“We had professionals test this extensively and the guy in the video as stated is a professional stunt man. I take safety more serious than you could ever imagine.”

The fact remains that many viewers are comparing the Youtuber to Jigsaw if he happened to be a content creator but unfortunately, we can only sit back and watch as MrBeast’s dangerous stunts for cash prizes continue.
