'Modern Warfare II' PC Price Revealed, And People Aren't Happy

Yesterday was a huge day for Call of Duty fans because Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II finally unleashed its full reveal trailer, along with information on beta testing which is coming very soon. Cue excitement. Ooo.

The trailer features the return of a number of fan-favourite characters including Ghost, Gaz and Capt Price. Task Force 141 finds themselves up against their greatest threat yet, sending them on a “globe-trotting operation, including missions in Europe, Asia, and the Americas.”

If you haven’t already, check out the incredible new trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II below.

The trailer also confirmed the game’s release date which is 28 October 2022, so we have just a mere four months to wait. The good news continues as Modern Warfare II will be available on Steam after several years of PC exclusivity on Activision’s own online store. For the most part, this doesn’t make a huge difference but it’s nice to have access to all your games in one place. That being said, there is one change for PC releases this year … the price.

For the first time in the franchise’s history, the PC version of Modern Warfare II will cost $70 on Steam, bringing the PC release in line with console versions of the game. Sony has been charging $70 for its major PlayStation 5 releases for a few years now and given that their sales remain strong, other publishers are following suit. Gaming is becoming an increasingly expensive hobby. Needless to say, people aren’t happy. Reddit user PPMachinee efficiently summed up everyone’s feelings. Take a look below.

An open-beta is coming soon which means you’ll be able to try out Modern Warfare II ahead of its release. To access that beta though, you have to pre-order the game which means forking out that $70. So I guess the question is, how important is beta access, because it comes with a hefty price tag these days.
