Oh lawd it’s happening. Over on the Call of Duty blog, a massive “era-defining franchise event”, dubbed Call of Duty Next has been announced, and promises live gameplay, details of “innovations”, and coverage of a number of upcoming CoD titles.

Take a look at some gameplay footage from Modern Warfare II below.

As well as more details on the sequel to Call of Duty: Warzone and Warzone Mobile (AKA Project Aurora), fans have the full multiplayer reveal of Modern Warfare II to look forward to (not to mention even more details about the game). The event, which is set to take place on 15 September and be presented by Infinity Ward, will feature a lineup of popular streamers playing the games in real time, and promises even more surprises than what’s already been listed on the blog.

That’s not all - details for both the open beta and early access beta for Modern Warfare II have been confirmed. Between 16 and 17 September, anyone who’s preordered the game on PS4 or PS5 (or received an early access code during the weekend’s Call of Duty League Championship) will be able to dive in first, followed by any PlayStation users, regardless of preorder status, between 18 and 20 September.

Then, between 22 and 23 September, anyone who preordered the game on Xbox consoles, or pre-purchased on PC, will also be able to join in on the crossplay beta (PlayStation users can keep playing, too), and finally, between 24 and 26 September, any players on any platform can play, whether they’ve preordered the game or not.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II is set to release on 28 October.
