With the news arriving that Insomniac is no longer working on DLC plans for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, fans have had their hopes dashed.

The plan was for the game to receive several DLC expansions to further the story of the base game, which was universally adored.

Now, however, those plans, along with our hopes, have been crushed. And fans aren’t happy.

That’s not to say there’s an overwhelming sense of anger, there seems to be a lot of sadness out there too.

On Reddit, GullibleCheeks844 said, “SM2 felt very short and lacking in content compared to SM1. I expected a similar three-episode story DLC to mitigate that. If that’s not the case, SM2 was kind of a letdown.”

I find myself feeling a little disappointed. The characters included in the sequel definitely had the potential to extend their stories or be caught up in more hijinks.

Many players now find themselves a bit lost in this future without more Spidey adventures on the horizon.

Many have said they will “finally delete the game” from their libraries considering “the hope of DLC has been completely shut down.”

This isn’t the end for Marvel’s Spider-Man however. A third game is rumoured to be in the works and there were plenty of teases in the game to point to a bright future.

Some are wondering if things behind the scenes were to blame for this sudden about-turn, “I agree and think that based on leaks and all that this was due to the game being over budget, cutting content and being rushed for release.”

Overall, it seems that everyone is gutted. When a game comes out to such love, we all want more of it and DLC is a perfect way to fulfill that.

Hopefully, this change will mean that Insomniac will have more time on their hands for the rumoured Venom spin-off in the works.
