Marvel Rivals has announced two free, massive game modes as part of its Road to Doomsday roadmap.
So far the road has been tackling every Avengers film leading up to Avengers: Doomsday, so; Avengers Assemble, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.
For the Infinity War celebrations a new game mode invites 12 players to battle for Infinity Stones.
On October 9, Six duos will clash for control over the mystical gems, with each one having its own unique properties and impact on the gameplay.

All 12 players won’t be on the field at once however. 2v2 matches will be held until only four combatants are left, before they finally take part in one last bout to take home all the marbles…or stones in this case.
It sounds like good fun and will be perfect for those who tend to only party up with one or two friends. A Battle Royale akin to a bitesized Fortnite wasn’t what we were expecting for Marvel Rivals, and yet it looks like it’ll work well.
However, the Infinity War event is nothing compared to what developer NetEase has in store for the Endgame event.
On October 22, a grand total of 50 players will take part in a large-scale battle for the Infinity Gauntlet itself.
This new PvE mode will see players clash with Thano’s army, and they’ll even get to fight the mad titan himself for control of the gauntlet.
It’s the biggest addition to the game yet and it sounds like it’ll be a fun-filled mode for all players, even the PvE side of the game isn’t what most people play for.
What does Marvel Rivals have in store for Avengers: Doomsday?
If the big plan for Avengers: Endgame is a reenactment of the film’s finale, it makes you wonder what NetEase has planned for Avengers: Doomsday later down the line.
Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait until the film’s release on December December 18 to truly speculate, but based on what we’ve seen from Marvel Rivals so far, and what we know of Doomsday’s plot, we can make a few early guesses.
The obvious pitch is some sort of Sentinel survival mode. The last few seasons of Marvel Rivals have added an abundance of X-Men characters to the game and many of them will appear in Avengers; Doomsday, with more likely to follow in Avengers: Secret Wars.
We also see in the film’s trailer that Doom will reanimate a bunch of destroyed sentinels to do his dirty work, so it wouldn’t be surprising to see something akin to that in the game next.
Doom himself could also be an enemy you get to fight, but we’d imagine that'll be saved for a future Secret Wars collab, depending on what becomes of the character by the end of Doomsday.
