Spider-Man is getting a new love interest in the comics, with Marvel announcing that Peter Parker is embarking on a “promising” new romance.

As part of the overhauled and softly rebooted Amazing Spider-Man comics, writer Joe Kelly is giving Spider-Man someone new to fall in love with, but they’re keeping us guessing as to who it is.

A new Spider-Man animated TV show is now showing on Disney Plus.

Marvel has unveiled a new preview of Amazing Spider-Man #1 showing off some gorgeous artwork by Pepe Larraz.

In the image shown, Spider-Man is fighting Rhino in the busy streets of New York.

Little else is known about this new direction for the comic run, but Marvel has been teasing an all-new supervillain alongside this new romance.

As part of the synopsis for the first run of the series, Marvel notes, “Something is off with Rhino's latest rampage, and after it reaches a tragic end, Spidey will dive headfirst into a dangerous conspiracy.”

It seems this new villain is “amping up” Spider-Man’s foes, making them more of a threat than ever before.

It’s time to start guessing whether this villain is a new creation by Joe Kelly, or whether it’s a returning enemy with a rebooted look and attitude.

Artist Larraz said, “Spider-Man was probably the first Marvel comic I read when I was a kid.”

They continued, “It is a privilege for me to be able to draw this character, even more so that it's guided by Joe Kelly's hand.”

The first issue goes on sale on 9 April, and it will kick off a new era of the landmark Marvel comic series.

Peter Parker will be attempting to juggle the trials of life, the joys of romance, and his double life as a hero.

It’s unlikely to go well for Spidey in the long run, as it never usually does.
