GTA 6 be damned, Mafia: The Old Country just got a major teaser

The next GTA VI trailer can be put on the back burner for now because it looks like we’re getting a new Mafia: The Old Country trailer this week.

However, there’s always the possibility of Rockstar Games shadow-dropping a new trailer for GTA VI at any point in an attempt to steal the thunder from current Mafia developer Hanger 13.

Following years of speculation, Mafia: The Old Country was revealed during Gamescom this year and it sent its fanbase into a frenzy. While being the fourth mainline entry in this series, the next Mafia game will be a prequel to the original game that was released in 2002.

“Uncover the origins of organised crime in Mafia: The Old Country, a gritty mob story set in the brutal underworld of 1900s Sicily,” reads the synopsis of the game. “Fight to survive in this dangerous and unforgiving era, with action brought to life by the authentic realism and rich storytelling that the critically acclaimed Mafia series is known for.”

As much excitement as the reveal trailer for Mafia: The Old Country brought, it was merely cinematic with no gameplay and fans are eager to see what the game looks like in action.

Well, judging by the tease across the official Mafia social media channels, we’re getting our first proper look at Mafia: The Old Country during The Game Awards later this week.

“See you at The Game Awards,” tweeted the Mafia Twitter account following up on the “See more December 2024” as stated in the Gamescom trailer.

“So ready to see more of this game,” replied KYALM1GHTY.

“Let’s go!!!” said MorrisAlmighty2.

“I can't wait to see more from this game. Probably my most anticipated game for 2025!” TheMattieboy, rejoiced.

While no release date has been announced yet, Mafia: The Old Country will launch on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
