Lord of the Rings Gets 8,000 Brick LEGO Build, Marketing Genius With Surprise Price

It costs HOW MUCH?!

A 8,278 piece Lord of the Rings LEGO set has just leaked online, and while it looks extremely cool, you may want to make sure you’re sitting down before you hear the price.

I’ve never been a LEGO guy, but I absolutely understand the appeal. Building a big, hulking monstrosity based on one of your favourite properties sounds like some wholesome and straightforward fun to me. Although I do have to wonder where all these LEGO fans are finding the space to display their creations once they’re complete.

Now there aren’t many franchises that could convince me to go down the LEGO rabbit hole, but The Lord of the Rings is one of them… however, I’m not entirely sure that I’d be willing to take out a second mortgage to get my hands on today’s example.

Brick Tap, who genuinely might have the most accurate history of leaks in the history of leakers, has revealed that a Minas Tirith set, which will be comprised of 8,278 pieces, is going to drop on June 1, 2026.

It will be part of LEGO's Icons line, and Brick Tap believes that it'll come complete with little figurines of Pippin, Aragorn, Gandalf, Faramir and Denethor (as well as some random Gondor soldiers, and Shadowfax).

Sounds cool. However, if you ask me, it doesn’t sound $600 to $650 levels of cool.

There are very few things I think are worth $600, like a small car, or a holiday. A LEGO set certainly isn’t one of them.

Over on the r/LegoLeak subreddit, some fans seem to agree, whereas others believe that it’s ultimately worth the price.

“I'm sure this will look amazing, but I miss the days when you could just walk into Toys R Us and buy a $20 Gandalf cart”, commented user YodasChick-O-Stick.

“The price and the piece count are so astronomically high that it took me a minute to process that it's actually - somehow - a pretty good price to part ratio”, replied user LastCryptographer173.

However, while I personally wouldn’t be caught paying this much for a LEGO set, I’m not going to disparage those who want to.

You only live once, and if you have enough disposable income to buy something like this, and you think that it’ll bring you enough joy to justify the price, then power to you.

Just let me know when they release some kind of ridiculously intricate Fallout LEGO set, cus then I’ll shell out however much cash they want.
