Update: Warner Bros. has officially confirmed an April 5 release date for LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga alongside a brand-new trailer, which you can see below!
Original story follows...
It's happening. Everybody stay calm. Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga has seemingly gotten a release date and fans are effervescent with excitement that the game they've longed for is apparently arriving in the spring of this year.
At E3 2019, Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga was announced as part of Microsoft's press conference with a short trailer and a second trailer followed with the release of The Rise of Skywalker. Since then, though, details on the game's development have been light on the ground. This might be due to the significant impact of the pandemic on the global economy, with lots of studios like Naughty Dog and Mojang stating that the shift to remote working affected their project pipelines in unforeseen ways.
The silver lining is that the prolonged period of time allowed employees to prioritise their health and the health of their families, leading to a greater transparency within the industry, and improvements on the games that wouldn't have happened if the finish line hadn't been pushed backwards.
We'll get into those goodies in just a moment - take a look at the trailer here!
Twitter user ALumia_Italia, who correctly spotted the early release of Halo Infinite's multiplayer mode last year, claims that Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is hitting the shelves on April 5th, 2022. A missed opportunity by one month and one day, some might say. However, Amazon Mexico has a listing for the PlayStation 5 version of the game that's set to release on December 31st, 2022. I'm inclined to think that this date is a placeholder and that the retailer is gearing up for the reveal of the actual release date, which might be the one that ALumia_Italia is offering. Fans have been waiting for three years for the game to be in their hands and it would be cheering to know that the release is sooner rather than later.
Yet, with Warner Bros and Traveller's Tales staying shtum at the moment, it's difficult to say whether or not this leak is verifiable. The game is coming in a Standard Edition and a Deluxe Edition and the latter boasts six content packs with characters from The Mandalorian, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Solo: A Star Wars Story, Star Wars: The Bad Batch and a cluster of Classic Characters. You'll also get a Luke Skywalker with blue milk minifigure and different box art showcasing Darth Vader with a removable mask. This is an absolute gem for both fans and collectors, so we'll keep you in the loop once we know more about Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga possible release window.
