If you’ve ever wanted to combine the life of a farmer with the swashbuckling adventure of a pirate, we might just have the game for you.
Bringing together the gorgeous pixelated art style cosy vibes of Stardew Valley with the high seas adventure of games like Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and The Legend Of Zelda: Wind Waker, this new farming sim might have sailed right past you when it launched earlier this year — but it’s well worth a look.
Developed by YawningDad and released on 13 January, Dreaming Isles asks you to “grow crops, grow ammo, grow a backbone” as you side with the pirates or help restore the Global Trade.
As you set sail for adventure, you look after islanders, forge relationships, find romance, and explore the seas.

“You're a lost mariner, tossed upon the shores of an abandoned island,” the official synopsis reads.
“This was once a farm, and perhaps it could be again.
There are plenty of islands to check out, all with their own resources to find and people to meet.
But it’s not all holding hands and planting seeds. The warring factions of pirates and trade vessels have caused no end of trouble for the islanders, and it’s up to you to pick a side and broker peace.

“Dreaming Isles is a wholesome farm life sim that combines high seas adventure, relationship building, Zelda-like exploration, and sword & sorcery.
Grow your farm, win the hearts of the Islanders, harness spell stones, fight monsters, side with the Pirates or with Global Trade, and explore the world of the Dreaming Isles.”
Dreaming Isles is now available to download on PC and Mac so if you want to take to the high seas and plant some crops, this is the game for you.
