The Last of Us boss says that the live-action HBO adaptation will ‘be around for a while’ as it has “quite a bit of story to tell.”

The debut season of The Last of Us TV series from Max (formerly HBO Max) concluded in March 2023 and was a critical success for fans across the world. In the UK, The Last of Us aired on Sky and the finale was the platform’s most-watched of all all-time for a debut series, proof that great live-action video-game adaptations can work.

It should come as no surprise that The Last of Us TV series still has plenty more seasons in the tank and in fact, production for season two is already underway. What’s more, it’s even been suggested that the live-action series will run for at least three seasons.

So with that in mind, as reported by CBR.com, the series showrunner, Craig Mazin told NAB (National Association of Broadcasters) that the adaptation still has “quite a bit of story to tell,” adding “our plan is to do it not just for one more season. We should be around for a while.”

What’s more, Mazin also confirmed that season two is currently in the script stage. This leans into what Ellie actor, Bella Ramsey said back in March that The Last of Us season two release date is a long way off.

Now that season one of The Last of Us has concluded, we have compiled a list ranking each episode from worst to best. The Last of Us TV series is available to stream on Max, Sky and Amazon Prime Video.

In the world of related gaming goodness, in our review of The Last of Us: Part I, we said: “This is a faithful and expertly enhanced remake. Fans will find no better way to experience this story, and first-time players are likely to discover a new all-time favourite.”
