The Last Of Us fans are already torn over Abby's casting in season 2

Fans are keen to know who will play Abby in a second season of The Last of Us, but they're torn over several choices.

HBO’s The Last of Us series hasn’t even aired its second episode and yet, us fans can’t stop getting ahead of ourselves. Admit it. You’ve already been thinking about season two. Will Abby and Ellie’s Seattle experiences run side-by-side? Will Jeffrey Wright return to play Isaac? The biggest question of all though is: who will play Abby?

This is assuming that The Last of Us gets a second season. It’s likely seeing as the show is HBO’s second-largest debut since 2010. Over 10 million viewers tuned in in the United States across the first two days of release, which I don’t need to point out is incredible. On top of that, users loved the first episode so much that it flew to the top of IMDb’s list of the highest-rated TV shows of all-time. The praise and hype is endless, it seems. Initial season two fan casts suggested that Florence Pugh would be perfect for the role of Abby, but not all fans are quite so sure.

Take a look at what’s in store this season on The Last of Us.

Without delving too far into the plot, Abby is a major part of The Last of Us Part II. In fact, she’s just as significant as Ellie or Joel so I imagine it’ll be a meticulous casting search. The problem is, fans are quite protective over the character - and trust me, I get it. Abby is my favourite and so while I’m very excited to see her brought to life, I’m also bracing myself for the backlash against her. People who know, know.

As reported by GGRecon, fans have taken to Twitter to discuss potential casting options and it turns out, Florence Pugh’s name is by no means the only one being thrown into the ring. Twitter user laszlos tweeted, “If they decide to adapt The Last of Us Part II, it's going to be EXTREMELY hard to cast Abby Anderson but someone suggested Erin Kellyman and now I really want that.. like give her a few months to bulk up but she has the chops.” User tlouify wrote, “That Jodie Comer as Abby Anderson fancast changed my life.” I could see both options working.

Shannon Berry and Sadie Sink’s names have also been brought up. Can we please, please, please just agree to be kind to whoever plays Abby? Even if you don’t gel with character, we don’t need a repeat of what happened to my girl Laura Bailey.
