Harry Potter fans are roasting a rumoured decision to cancel Hogwarts Legacy DLC.

Arguably, Hogwarts Legacy is the greatest Harry Potter-inspired video game of all time. Sure, there are slim pickings when it comes to choice but even on its own merit, the fact that Hogwarts Legacy was the best-selling video game of 2023, speaks for itself.

“Experience Hogwarts in the 1800s. Your character is a student who holds the key to an ancient secret that threatens to tear the wizarding world apart,” reads the synopsis of the game. “Make allies, battle Dark wizards, and ultimately decide the fate of the wizarding world.”

Rumours were making the rounds that paid-for DLC was in the works from Hogwarts Legacy developer Avalanche Software but for whatever reason, that content was cancelled. Fans have been calling for new story DLC for about two years, and this news baffled many.

Sure, we are getting a new Hogwarts Legacy release in 2025, but it’s probably not what most fans want, it has to be said. As you can imagine, Harry Potter fans have been venting their frustrations on Reddit.

“On Warner Bros. cancelling the DLC, I guess it’s allergic to money,” said darttagnan sharing a version of a popular meme.

“Yup, sounds about right," replied Fallout_4_player.

“I was kinda looking forward to the DLC but it’s not happening anymore,” exclaimed sktachi.

“Well, I'll never be excited for WB things anymore...I was excited about the DLC. But now it's taken away from us,” said a dejected Fierydragon921.

“I'd bet if WB had released Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions as a DLC for Hogwarts Legacy instead of releasing it as a separate game, it would have made serious money,” suggested DanceMaster117 making a valid point.

I guess, we’ll just have to wait for the release of Hogwarts Legacy 2 to get our new content fix, whenever that might be.
