Hogwarts Legacy may be on course to hit its planned 2022 release window after all.

Earlier this week, reports surfaced that the Harry Potter RPG is in "trouble" right now, and may be delayed into 2023. The antipcated open-world adventure was first announced at a PlayStation event back in 2020, along with a vague release window of 2021.

It soon became clear to developer Avalanche Software and publisher Warner Bros., however, that Hogwarts Legacy would need more time. It was delayed to 2022 several months later.

Now, Sacred Symbol's podcast host Colin Moriarty has claimed that he's heard "behind the scenes that [the] game isn't coming out this year" and "it's in some sort of trouble". Moriarty declined to share further details, but the idea of having to wait another year for the Potter RPG is obviously something fans haven't relished.

Fortunately, it might not be as bad as all that. Twitter user AccountNGT, who previously leaked Star Wars: Eclipse and claimed that Hogwarts Legacy is actually close to being finished, responded to Moriarty's claims with scepticism.

"The only thing that could delay Hogwarts Legacy to 2023 is the amount of games that will be released in the same period," they wrote.

Moments later, the official Warner Play Brazil Twitter account posted a thread of games it expects to release in 2022. Among them were Gotham Knights, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, and Hogwarts Legacy.

Warner Bros. has yet to officially respond to or acknowledge the delay rumours, which means the official word is clearly very much still that Hogwarts Legacy is coming in 2022.

That may be good news, but it is worth noting that delays can be decided upon very late in the game. It's also entirely likely that the social media manager behind the Warner Play account is not privy to any conversations Warner Bros. and Avalanche may or may not be having about delaying Hogwarts Legacy. Hopefully we learn more about the game - including an actual release date and gameplay features - sooner rather than later.
