Among the many Hogwarts Legacy projects that have been scrapped since the game first launched back in 2023, one is still on the cards: a sequel.

Yes, we know that Hogwarts Legacy 2 is in development, continuing the story set in J.K. Rowling’s magical world and taking place around a century before the events of the beloved book and movie series.

However, we do not know much else but according to a recent report, the sequel could team-up with yet another exciting project.

A report by Variety reveals that the Hogwarts Legacy sequel could coordinate with the upcoming HBO Harry Potter reboot television series as a way to combine two separate plots.

I’m not sure how this would happen considering that the HBO reboot will be set a century after the events of Hogwarts Legacy but it will be interesting to see nonetheless.

This information comes from Warner Bros. president David Haddad.

"Haddad says the games team has been coordinating some of the big-picture storytelling elements in the Hogwarts Legacy sequel with the storylines that will play out in the Harry Potter HBO series coming from Warner Bros. Television," the Variety report reads.

That is all we know so far but it was not long before the news took to r/HarryPotterGame and fans were left feeling divided.

User Rentahamster said, “I liked how it was its own thing. I'm worried WB is going to f**k this up. I'd like to have DLC and expansions for the first game.”

Fellow user reflechir added, “How can there be any relation between the HL story and the TV series story that isn't just HL not contradicting established canon? Unless they're making the TV series deviate from the books to include references to HL ... no-one wants that.”

It remains to be seen how Avalanche Software and Warner Bros. will manage this impressive feat but with the Hogwarts Legacy sequel still in its early stages of development, it will be a few years until we do so.
