Information on the highly-anticipated Hogwarts Legacy sequel is scarce but one important announcement has left fans feeling less than hopeful.
Hogwarts Legacy 2 was unofficially confirmed to be in development in late 2024 which is perhaps no surprise considering that the first game went on to become the best-selling game of 2023.
Telling the events of the magical world of Harry Potter a century before the events of the main book and movie series, Hogwarts Legacy allows the player to take on the role of the average Hogwarts student, dark magic and all.
However, with a lack of additional content and updates, many fans are done with their time with Hogwarts Legacy and looking to the future of the franchise.

That is where Hogwarts Legacy 2 comes in.
Once again developed by Avalanche Software and published by Warner Bros., it has been revealed that the Hogwarts Legacy sequel will coordinate its story with the upcoming HBO Harry Potter series.
This news comes courtesy of an interview with WB Interactive president David Haddad earlier this year for Variety.
"Haddad says the games team has been coordinating some of the big-picture storytelling elements in the Hogwarts Legacy sequel with the storylines that will play out in the Harry Potter HBO series coming from Warner Bros. Television," the Variety report reads.

We are unsure what “coordinating” means in this context, especially as, as mentioned, the events of the game and the television series will be over a century apart.
Regardless of what this coordination will entail, it seems as though fans are feeling less than hopeful about the idea and took to r/HarryPotterGame to share their thoughts.
“I liked how it was its own thing. I'm worried WB is going to f*ck this up,” user Rentahamster shared.
'I'd like to have DLC and expansions for the first game.’

User Grausam agreed, adding, “I have every expectation that WB is going to f*ck this up.
Big corporations never understand why their studio products strike gold. All they see is valuable IP and potential profit generation.
I am so thankful we got Hogwarts Legacy, because I don't think we'll get another game in the franchise anywhere near as good for a long time.”
It remains to be seen if Hogwarts Legacy 2 will be as successful as its predecessor but it seems as though fans are not feeling as hopeful for its big plans.
