Henry Cavill Listens To 'The Witcher 3' Soundtrack To Get Into Character As Geralt

Music to our ears

Every actor has their own process when it comes to getting the most out of a role. Kate Winslet, for example, prefers to stay in character even when the cameras aren't rolling. Jared Leto prepares for his roles by being as insufferable as possible for as long as possible. To each their own.

How does Henry Cavill, our handsome nerd icon and former Superman, choose to get into character as Geralt of Rivia when filming Netflix's The Witcher? With music from the games, of course.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt's epic soundtrack, composed by Marcin Przybyłowicz and Mikołaj Stroiński, perfectly captures the essence of the CD Projekt RED RPG. It's dark, thrilling, and completely otherworldly. No wonder Cavill likes to whack it on while preparing for scenes!

"There were some days when the going got tough and it was just about trying to put myself in the right headspace," Cavill explained during a recent panel. "I actually listen to some of The Witcher 3 soundtrack, because obviously it my first introduction [to the series], and it's a great soundtrack."

He added that listening to the soundtrack helped him to remember when he'd imagine, as a fan, what it'd be like to make a TV show or movie adaptation of The Witcher. "You just start to get into the right frame of mind, and that becomes the focus rather than anything else," he explained.

Nobody loves The Witcher 3 more than Henry Cavill, that's for sure.
