For almost a decade, the Halo TV series sat in development hell. As with most game adaptations, fans wondered if the rumoured project would ever see the light of the day but alas, that day has finally come. Premiering on 24 March 2022 on Paramount+, Halo’s first season is happily moving along its nine episode run, with a second season already guaranteed to be on the way.
As with any adaptation, we had so many questions. Would the show live up to our expectations? Would it be canon? An original story? Would we finally see what Master Chief looks like under his helmet? Well, the answer to that last one is a resounding yes. There’s one question no one asked: What about under the rest of his gear? Well if that piqued your curiosity, it’s your lucky day, you thirsty lot.

Portrayed by actor Pablo Schreiber, Master Chief got his kit off in this week’s third episode titled ‘Emergence’ during a scene with Cortana (Jen Taylor). It wasn’t quite as spicy as it sounds. Master Chief actually had an emotion blocking chip lodged in the base of his spine, and was attempting to remove it, with the guidance of Cortana.

I don’t know about Cortana but we couldn’t help but find ourselves distracted by Master Chief’s backside which we were treated to viewing in not one, but two separate shots. If you were hoping to catch a glimpse of Master Chief’s well … helmet … there’s a conveniently placed pillar. Thank god for modesty concealing architecture.
Taking our heads out of the gutter for just a fraction of a second, it seems that the Halo TV series is actually making a bid to explore the human underneath the armour and that can only be a good thing for creating a compelling series. We can also appreciate this scene for what it is though: ass.
