An upcoming GTA Online update may be hiding a major tease for GTA VI, according to the community.
With all the buzz that continues to surround the highly anticipated release of the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series, some fans believe that Rockstar Games could hide a major GTA VI tease in an upcoming GTA Online update.
Long before Rockstar Games officially announced GTA VI to the world, hype for its release had been building for years. However, now that we’ve had two glorious trailers since December 2023, fans can look forward to its full release in the coming months. That’s as long as it doesn't get delayed, of course.
In 2013, GTA V graced us with its presence for the first time, before it was ported to every console generation since, most recently, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

Sure, GTA V has made Rockstar Games and its parent company, Take-Two Interactive, a bucket load of money, but where the real revenue comes into play is with its multiplayer offering, GTA Online.
Granted, you can play GTA Online without splashing out on its microtransactions with a constant flurry of expansion-sized content updates, Rockstar Games knows how to entice its consumers to splash the cash.
Its next update is speculated by the community to be the “mansion update”, and fans hope that it will lead to something big ahead of GTA VI’s release.
With that in mind, Reddit user EliteFireBox believes that the currently unannounced GTA Online “mansion update” could offer a tease for the third GTA VI trailer, and to be fair, the logic makes sense.

“I think the next GTA Online update (the mansion update) will be the key to GTA VI’s future,” they claimed.
In a nutshell, some previous major GTA Online content updates have been followed by trailers for GTA VI. This is a deliberate marketing tactic to bring players back into GTA Online while promoting the next game.
It’s believed that the “mansion update” will be the last major content update for GTA Online, so it will be the perfect opportunity to make more money than usual with its online game by capitalising on the hype for what could also be the final GTA VI trailer before its release.
“I think it makes sense, I wouldn’t be surprised at a mid-late November GTA VI trailer three, then an early December online update,” replied Impressive-Salary-92.

“My personal prediction is that we see or hear something GTA VI-related before the Take-Two earnings call on 6 November, and then spend the latter half of November teasing the new DLC with the mission, etc, that was found in the files of the last DLC,” explained WhiteStar751.
“I think the mansion update marks the beginning of the GTA VI marketing cycle, and I'd be shocked if Rockstar passed up the opportunity to slip some promotional events in there, similar to how they did in the build-up to RDR2, maybe some special liveries, weapons or Vice City clothing.”
I guess we’ll find out in the coming weeks if or when the “mansion update” is confirmed, and if it might be hiding the next GTA VI trailer.
At the time of writing, Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled to be released on 26 May 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
