With Rockstar being the pinnacle of video game design, we can only begin to imagine what players will be capable of doing in the upcoming Grand Theft Auto VI.

In typical Grand Theft Auto fashion, we can expect to take on robberies and heists, epic car chases, strip club excursions and bring a whole lot of chaos, but according to Google AI, we will also be able to… twerk?

Well, that is most certainly what Google’s AI accompaniment thinks as according to its overview, players will have access to a “twerk button” to use at will throughout Grand Theft Auto VI.

Unfortunately (or fortunately for some), this “twerk button” is a hoax and is the work of YouTube mastermind Jeffrey Phillips.

In an attempt to show just how inaccurate AI can be without human intervention, Phillips set off on a mission to spread information regarding Grand Theft Auto VI and see how long it took for Google’s AI overview to snap it up.

It seems as though it did not take long at all as after just a few meagre campaigns, this infamous “twerk button” soon found itself at the top of a simple Google search.

Between July and September, Phillips spread news of this fake feature across various social media channels including Reddit and TikTok.

Knowing that Google AI favours subreddits, Phillips posted various threads to the site as well as even going to the trouble of making fake videos and controller layouts and posting them to TikTok.

When called out on the lie, Phillips simply claimed that somebody at Rockstar had told him about it and that was seemingly enough to continue the charade.

How did he do it?

In a video posted to his YouTube channel, Phillips talks about the entire misinformation campaign and according to him, it was a lot easier to do than he had first thought.

In an interview with Polygon, the YouTuber had the following to say: "I was definitely surprised to see that I even showed up on the AI overview, especially since I didn’t even try to make anything with substantial or convincing evidence. I thought at most it would say some people on Reddit think it could be true. I would've never expected my own comments being used as a source though."

By just posting a few times a day, Phillips managed to get himself to the top of Google thanks to its AI overview and it just goes to show how much of the information provided on the search engine is actually fabricated.

Now wouldn’t it be hilarious if Grand Theft Auto VI did actually feature a twerk button?
