Grand Theft Auto VI is truly shaping up to be the ultimate Grand Theft Auto game, especially when you look closely at the new customisation options.
GTA VI continues to make headlines through official teases from Rockstar Games and the online antics of Cyberleeks. The leaker is threatening to release the full-game online unless Rockstar meets their demands.
While Cyberleeks’ footage drew the attention of gooners with its nude Jason and Lucia gameplay, we’d like you to cast your eyes elsewhere; specifically, to the awesome changes to vehicle customisation.
What's new in GTA VI's vehicle customisation
When Cyberleek wasn’t making Jason hang dong, he was checking out the dirt-bike minigame. As spotted by fans like u/deepankrrr, if you take a closer look at the selection of bikes to choose from, you’ll find each one has its own attributes.
This is nothing new as vehicles in Grand Theft Auto V differed in terms of handling, top-speed, braking etc. However, a new addition seems to rate vehicles on how good they handle on different terrain.

The off-road bikes will obviously perform better off-road, but will likely be out-performed by bog-standard motorcycles on the city streets.
You’ll seemingly be able to say the same for cars. A supercar might dominate the race on a highway, but if the track takes you to the wilderness, a truck or SUV might have the edge.
GTA VI terrain ratings are going to change everything we thought we knew about the open-world
In my opinion, this is the single best improvement in GTA VI so far. Aside from the attention to detail, it’s going to add so much variation to how we get around Leonida.
Based on what we’ve seen so far, the new map is going to take us to some glaringly different locations. You’ve got returning fan-favourites like Vice City, the mountains, swamps, beaches, and potentially islands.
GTA V had different biomes too and yet they all felt the same. You could zip across the map in Trevor’s broken-down truck - or the Truffade Adder - and the route would be exactly the same. You’d just get to your destination faster in the latter.
But, in GTA VI, it sounds like the vehicle you choose is actually going to matter. If you’re being chased by the police, you could flee to the mountains, but if your car doesn’t have the necessary torque or its wheels aren’t made for off-roading, you might struggle.
Driving a supercar modelled after a real-world Lamborghini is going to feel great in Vice City, but it’ll probably sink a stone if you try to take it through a swamp.
While there probably has to be a limit to how many hazards Rockstar Games throws at the player, it feels like the vehicle and driving mechanics especially have seen some thorough upgrades.
The added realism is great, but the real beauty in these changes is how they’re going to impact the open-world exploration and missions. Heists could be especially interesting now.
We’ll see for ourselves when the game launches on 19 November, unless Cyberleek drops it online first.
