A GTA VI rival has shown off its enormous map which should keep us all busy until November, later this year.
Assuming it suffers no further delay, we can all somewhat relax knowing that GTA VI will finally grace us with its presence in the coming months. After saying that, I might have just cursed its current release date.
However, what can we play to keep us busy until November, but also to scratch that Grand Theft Auto itch? The obvious choice would be GTA V and GTA Online, but considering both of those games are over a decade old, there’s every chance that we’ve seen everything that each has to offer.
Thankfully, we have at least two recommendations that will keep GTA and anime fans busy, and the first of those is the free-to-play, open-world RPG Ananta, developed by Naked Rain and published by NetEase Games Montreal.
While Ananta doesn't have a confirmed release date at the time of writing, there are hopes that it will arrive sometime within the next few months, giving it a little head start over the upcoming Rockstar Games title.
Ananta has already dropped a complete look at its huge map and it's certainly got gamers talking.

"After I saw a full map of Ananta, I can say NTE is just 20% of Ananta in the map,” tweeted Pookieraju, referring to a clip that has oddly been taken down (I’ve seen it). The map does look huge; in fact, it looks more like a world than a single map. “It has seven islands, and it's just 53GB on PC.”
“Massive maps just become tedious. NTE is big enough to be interesting and small enough to feel full,” replied revieler136, casting some doubt over the enjoyment of Ananta, to which Pookieraju added, “This is big enough with more than 10k missions just like GTA V.”
Ananta is coming to PC, PlayStation 5, as well as compatible Android and iOS devices. You can register your interest here. From what we’ve seen of the trailers so far, Ananta looks stunning and could end up being a surprise hit of 2026.
One other alternative that could give us that GTA VI fix is a new rival called Neverness to Everness (or NTE for short), developed by Hotta Studio and published by Perfect World Games - plus it's what's being referred to above. NTE also looks like GTA (albeit an anime version), but it’s available to play right now for free on PS5 and mobile devices.
As for Grand Theft Auto VI, it’s currently scheduled to be released on 19 November 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Its PC release hasn't been officially announced yet.
