GTA 6 release date update has fans bracing themselves for greatness

GTA VI fans are bracing themselves for greatness in anticipation of the upcoming title from Rockstar Games.

It pretty much goes without saying that the next entry in the ever-popular Grand Theft Auto series is one of the most eagerly awaited video games of all time, perhaps moreso than even GTA V.

Earlier this year, Rockstar Games treated us to the second GTA VI trailer, and it did not disappoint. We got to see more of its two protagonists, Jason and Lucia, in action, the return of Vice City, and it all looked absolutely gorgeous, to say the least.

“Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them,” reads the synopsis of GTA VI.

“But when an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, in the middle of a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida — forced to rely on each other more than ever if they want to make it out alive.”

Now, fans are waiting for Rockstar Games to release the third trailer for GTA VI. Typically, Rockstar Games only tends to release a few trailers for its games, so I wouldn't be surprised if the next (and maybe final) one for GTA VI arrives closer to its launch.

To no surprise whatsoever, fans are hyped for GTA VI and accounts on Twitter, such as ‘GTA 6 Countdown’, are great places for fans to socialise and share their appreciation for the series.

“13% complete until GTA VI release date (338 days remaining),” tweeted the fan account in question. It’s worth noting that this tweet was posted over the weekend, so we can knock a couple of days off.

“That was a fast 13%,” replied playtocinama, suggesting that time has flown by since Rockstar Games dropped the GTA VI trailer earlier in the year.

“It’s getting there,” said rockstationonx.

“The days that are counted pass quickly,” GTA_Turkish responded.

“If GTA VI flops after all this waiting, I’m gonna start gatekeeping oxygen. I don’t care anymore,” exclaimed cacoochie.

Assuming Grand Theft Auto VI doesn't get delayed any further, it will be released on 26 May 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
